Due to the combined size of the surgeries we have a number of reception staff, and many receptionists divide their time between Helston and Porthleven. The team includes Reception Lead: Stephanie. Receptionists: Marie, Maria, Emma, Tegen, Laura, Ebony, Michelle, Abby, Melanie, Sharon, Sonia, Tracey, Mel, Paula and Matt. The Reception team work along side our Prescription Clerks who are: Bridie, Sharon, Paul, Sandra and Jo. Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice, and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results, and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses, and also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries. In order to book you the right appointment, the receptionist may ask you why you need to be seen. The doctors have asked them to do this, as they may be able to save you having to come in and be seen, or ensure that you have the right appointment first time rather than having to call you back into a different clinic. If you are really unhappy to tell them why you need to be seen please tell them it is personal. Each of the nurses has a slightly different range of skills and it is particularly important with their appointments to know why you wish to be seen. In addition some checks take longer than others, and the receptionist will endeavour to book you the right length appointment with the right member of the nursing team. |
